Q: Why are there no briquettes or lava rock with my new grill?
A: Your grill has been equipped with a smart bar or heat tent;
these are replacement cooking mediums for briquettes or lava rock. They
have been designed to protect the burner from grease by vaporizing the
drippings. They will also help reduce flare-ups. Do not place briquettes or lava rock on top of the smart bar or heat
tent. They will cause damage to your smart bar or heat tent.

Q: What is a BTU?
A: BTU stands for British Thermal Unit, which is a measurement of
heat output. So how should BTU’s factor in your purchase decision?
Although the
number of BTU’s should increase as the main cooking surface increases,
it is important to know that more BTUs do not necessarily mean a better
performing grill. Our research indicates that having 100 BTU’s per
square inch of your primary cooking surface is ideal for optimum
performance in a Fiesta grill. This BTU range will allow you to heat
your grill high enough to sear a steak, and then lower the BTU output
to maintain the ideal cooking temperature.

Q: My burner does not get hot enough, even with burners on high. Why?
A: The flow-limiting device may be activated. This safety feature
restricts the gas flow in the event of a gas leak. The flow-limiting
device can be activated by improper lighting procedures; if you open
the LP tank valve rapidly or if more than one burner control knob is in
an open position when opening the LP tank valve. The
flow-limiting device can also be activated if there is a gas leak. If
this is suspect please perform the following:
-
Shut off LP tank valve and turn all burner valves to the OFF position.
-
Perform a leak test to determine if a gas leak has caused the flow-limiting device to activate.
If the leak test is negative perform the following:
- Disconnect the regulator from the LP tank.
-
Re-connect the regulator to the LP tank.
-
Then carefully follow the lighting procedures.
When you are done grilling always:
-
Turn all burner control knobs to the OFF position.
-
Turn off the LP tank valve last.
If you are still having problems, please call our customer support center at 1-800-396-3838.

Q: My regulator has frost on it. Should I be concerned?
A: Frost on a regulator indicates that you may have an overfilled
tank. Immediately close the LP tank valve and contact your local
filling station for assistance. If the filling station is unable to
assist you, contact your local fire department.

Q: There is a hum or noise coming from my grill. What should I do?
A: If the humming noise you hear is coming from your regulator and you
do NOT smell gas then this usually is not a hazard or defect. This
noise can be caused by outside temperatures and humidity. If you smell
gas, immediately close the LP tank valve and burner controls to the OFF
position. Disconnect the hose from the tank. Move the tank away from
the house and contact the tank manufacturer, or call your local fire
department.

Q: How do I check to see if there is a gas leak?
A: A leak test ensures that there are no gas leaks prior to lighting your grill.
When a leak test must be performed:
-
If you see, hear or smell gas.
-
Before lighting your grill for the first time.
-
Every time the propane cylinder is refilled.
-
If any gas component is changed.
-
At a minimum of once per season.
-
After a prolonged period of storage or non-use.
-
If the regulator flow-limiting device has been activated.
A LEAK TEST SHOULD BE PERFORMED IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA, AWAY FROM
ANY OPEN FLAME, HEAT OR IGNITION SOURCES. DO NOT USE A MATCH, OPEN
FLAME OR SMOKE DURING A LEAK TEST.
How to do the testing:
-
Make a mixture of 50% liquid dish soap and 50% water.
-
With grill console control knobs in the "OFF" position, twist the
valve on the propane cylinder 1 turn only. DO NOT LIGHT BURNERS WHILE
PERFORMING A LEAK CHECK.
-
Brush soap and water solution on the following connections:
-
All propane cylinder welds and bottom ring of tank.
-
Propane cylinder valve including threads into cylinder.
-
All hose connections including side burner tubing, if equipped.
-
All valve connections.
-
Observe each place for growing bubbles, which indicates that a gas leak is present.
If a gas leak is present DO NOT USE your grill. Shut off the fuel
source at the valve on the cylinder immediately (if appropriate, remove
propane cylinder). Call a certified gas appliance service person or a
gas dealer for proper repairs.
